On Thursday afternoon, I decided to brave the Christmas crowds and head to the City centre for a gift buying sesh. After a spot of Lunch and a quick wander around Sostrene Grenes with a blogger pal, we parted ways. I thought I’d head straight for John Lewis, where I knew I could tick a lot of items off of my shopping list, all under one roof. Of course I made a beeline straight for the beauty section, where I was immediately maced with some sort of horrific man spray, which would be “the perfect gift for the man in your life”, apparently. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m hella awkward in these kinds of situations, you know the ones, where all you need to say is ‘No, thank you’, so, instead, I took the cowards way out…and ran away.
After hiding for a few minutes and pretending to be engrossed in a skincare range I had never heard of, I slipped passed the horrendous cologne section, once again and headed towards my rose gold beacon of hope, my shiny sanctuary, the Charlotte Tilbury counter. After browsing for a few minutes, with no intention to purchase, the most beautiful young woman, I had ever seen, in real life, asked me if I needed any help with anything? That was it, she sat me down, put a full face of beautiful makeup on me and just over £100 later, here we are! Ooops. Why can’t I ever just say no?!
I asked for a look that I could wear on Christmas day, incorporating a brown and gold shimmery smokey eye, I also wanted a flawless complexion and finally I needed a new scent, as the one I have currently, makes my boyfriend screw his nose up.
If, like me, you’re a bit of a makeup novice, then these smaller palettes are just the ticket. With four eyeshadows to prime, enhance, smoke and pop, you really cant go wrong. However, if you think you might struggle, have perhaps been looking online (like I had) and it all feels a bit overwhelming, I’d suggest going to your local Charlotte Tilbury counter or store, as there are loads of options when it comes to these colour coded eyeshadows and the staff will be more than happy to show you how to apply them and once you know, you know! Its that simple.
The Lipsticks are beautiful and if you can say no to that packaging, then you have stronger will power than I! I wanted pillow talk, obviously, because I am a sheep, but that was out of stock, so I went for Very Victoria instead, which is apparently the next best thing. So boys and girls, if you cant get Pillow Talk, then get Very Victoria, it really is beautiful.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY MAGIC FOUNDATION : SHADE 3.5 FAIR
CHARLOTTE TILBURY : SCENT OF A DREAM
I wanted a flawless complexion, so I went for the foundation that my Makeup artist was wearing, honestly, her skin was perfect, so clearly that tells you a lot about the products! I mentioned in a previous post that I was loving YSL foundations, however, the amount they oxidise is just ridiculous. I hadn’t actually realised, until a recent photoshoot, where I was getting darker and darker throughout the day, that is why I say, always try before you buy! I explained that I didn’t want a foundation which oxidised and that’s exactly what I got. Its a full coverage, demi-matte foundation, which is also long lasting. It contains Hyaluronic acid, which keeps collagen synthesis up as well as helping the skin to retain moisture. Basically, it contributes towards reducing the effects of ageing on the skin and boots collagen levels. All very good, if you want to look youthful and at 29 years of age, I can use all the help I can get. It also contains Laricyl, which is basically a mushroom extract, which tightens pores and with an added dose of concentrated vitamin C, this foundation is basically skin care and beauty in one, which is always a winner in my opinion.
Finally the perfume, Scent of a Dream. To be honest, when I smelt this in the bottle, I wasn’t a fan, but once its on my skin, it completely transforms and if you’re looking for a scent that lasts all day, then Scent of a dream, is the fragrance for you. Its best off giving this perfume another sniff after 15 minutes, because it completely transforms after its had time to settle. Its a very floral scent, which I personally love, with notes of Lemon, Peach, black pepper, Saffron, Mandarin and Bergamot. I am a huge fan of anything with Lemon and Bergamot and as an added bonus, the bottle is beautiful and will look stunning on your dressing table.
Id be happy to receive any of these as a gift, so, if you’re looking for presents for girlfriends, wives, or mothers, Id suggest you head for the Charlotte Tilbury counter. They have gorgeous skincare and the rose gold packaging is to die for, their gift sets are stunning too and they have lovely gift boxes, for if you’re not much of a wrapper.
If you do get your makeup done at Charlotte Tilbury before Christmas, be sure to ask your MUA to write down everything they have used to create your look. I personally couldn’t afford the £400 worth of products that went onto my face, so the list has now changed hands and I’ll just have to see what is under the tree on Christmas day.
If you’re a loved one and you’re reading this, any of the skincare would be much appreciated. wink wink, nudge nudge.
Have a super shiny weekend everyone.
